Gen Con 2015

Gen Con 2015 Hype!

Hello ladies and gentlemen, it’s a week before Gen Con 2015 and I have to say, I am super excited. I was lucky enough to go last year for the first time and even luckier to go this year. So, I am writing for you today a list of the top 5 things I’m looking forward to this year!

5. Staying Downtown

This year we are staying downtown and we’re excited. Last year we decided to go late into the year, so we were about 7 miles our from the convention center. This year we intend on seeing a lot more of the night life of Gen Con and Indianapolis as a whole.

4. New Convention Mates

This year we’re bringing along another friend and it’s his first time! It’s great to have another person along and he’s an experience Warmachine/Hordes player, so he’ll have plenty to do. He’s competing in a tournament, so hopefully he does well! If not, that ok too!

3. New Games

Like last year, there are lots of new games coming out at and around Gen Con. Last year there were some really heavy hitters that sold out almost instantly each morning of the convention. THis year there aren’t as many new HOT releases, but I do anticipate there will be a few games that sell out fast (Mysterium). There are a few new games I want to check out as well as some re-releases that might be interesting, so I’ll be waking up at the crack of dawn to get to those dealer hall doors.

2. Old Games

As I said earlier, lots of games sold out last year. That means there are quite a few on my try/buy list from last year that I look forward to checking off. Hopefully things have cooled down on Dead of Winter, I can find a copy of Roll for the Galaxy, and I should probably get a copy of the DnD 5th ed players hand book.

1. Pugs!

I don’t really have regrets in life, but I do wish I played more games with random strangers last year at Gen Con. There was just sooooo much to explore, that it felt like we were missing something. And we kind of were. We were surrounded by 57 thousand other people and didn’t really play games with many of them. This year it’s my goal to fix that. Meet some cool random people, play some games with them, move on to the next group.
